We provide highly experienced site engineers to support construction and development projects. Our engineers can provide precision site control installation, datum establishment, setting out, as-built surveys, construction verification, and clash detection, as well as structural and environmental monitoring. We can provide millimetre-accurate setting out services for everything from low-tolerance racking systems to the setting out of piles on large-scale infrastructure projects.

When do I need a Site Engineer?
The site engineer acts as an interface between the design team and the construction workforce. They are on site to translate drawings into physical marks on the ground, and to confirm that the project is proceeding according to specification. A site engineer is therefore needed wherever the workforce needs direction on exactly where to build, and to check that what has been built is correct.
Their role is multifaceted but essentially covers three key areas:
- Setting Out
A site engineer’s primary function. They establish the site control and transfer specific coordinate points from the drawings to the ground. For example, marking the exact centre point for pile foundations or the alignment of a steel column. - Levelling
Establishing and transferring the TBM (Temporary Bench Mark). They ensure that the “Finished Floor Level” (FFL) is exactly as specified in the planning permission, preventing height-breach disputes. - Quality Assurance (QA) and ‘As-Builts’
They check the work as it is being done. For example, before a concrete pour the site engineer checks the shuttering and reinforcement. After the pour, they survey the result to produce “As-Built” drawings, verifying that the structure is within tolerance.
Site engineers are not needed for a simple garden wall, but would be needed for projects that involve:
- Steel frame construction
- Complex civil engineering and drainage
- Complex racking systems
- Boundary critical works
- Reinforced concrete (RC) frames
Deliverables
Our site engineers can provide a multitude of deliverables, including:
- As built drawings
- Site control coordinates
- Setting out data and reports
- Datum values
- Monitoring data and reports
- Cut and fill calculations
