Location: St Bartholomew’s Hospital
Service: Measured Building Survey, 3D laser scanning
Barts Heritage required a 3D measured building survey of various elements of the Grade I listed St Bartholomew’s Hospital, including the Henry VII Gate (1702) and North Block. The hospital is widely recognised to be oldest functioning hospital in the world having been founded in 1102.
The survey was to assist Barts Heritage and their architects, Purcell UK in restoration works and included 3D scans of the Great Hall and Hogarth Stair dating to 1732.
Given the historic nature of the asset particular care was taken to avoid any damage to the fabric of the building and to ensure that survey work could safely take place in busy public areas. In order to ensure that the project ran to schedule and to budget we two project managers worked in tandem, one responsible for the site survey teams and data capture, and one responsible for the programme deliverables with project sign off by both prior to delivery.
